Transportation: Parents will be responsible for transportation. A map to the Mohican School Field Trip Center will be sent upon registration confirmation.
Registration: To pre-register please mail the registration and medical form to Mohican School by June 10, 2008. You may also register your child on the first day. 50% of the registration fee will be refunded if we are notified of your intention to withdraw your child within one week of the starting date.
Visitors: We request that, for the safety of your children, visitors to our program please give us prior notification.
Food: Students are to bring a sack lunch, snack, and drink each day.
Equipment: The children should bring a change of clothes each day plus a raincoat and boots or waterproof shoes. Do Not Anticipate Warm Or Dry Weather. A jacket or sweatshirt and hat in case it gets cool would also be useful. A small water bottle will be necessary. Long pants are required most days - exceptions will be explained the day before. Insect repellent and sun screen lotion will be necessary. Backpacks will be very useful. Two sharpened pencils and paper are necessary.
Health: Mohican School assumes all children who attend will be healthy. All staff members will be alert as to the health and welfare of the children. If a student should become ill, the parents will be notified and arrangements made for the child to be sent home. In case of serious accident parents will be notified and arrangements made for the child to be sent home. In case of serious accident, parents will be notified immediately. Emergency information must be filled out by parents as a part of the application and mailed with the registration form. Part of the fee is for an accident insurance policy which has a deductible coverage on each child.
It is hoped that children will not bring medicine to the program and that any necessary medication will be taken at home before and/or after the program each day. If children are taking medication, the proper forms will need to be completed so the staff will recognize any serious side effects or problems resulting from the medicine. The children will be responsible for administering their own medication if they bring any to the program. No oral medicine should be sent without the appropriate completed forms. Medicine must be in the original container. If you request that your child carry an inhaler it is suggested that the child bring two inhalers in case one gets lost.
Do Not Send: Sharp Objects, Comic Books, Radios, Games, Aerosol Cans, or Gum. It is also assumed that parents will not permit students to bring any medicine or drugs without proper permission, any illegal drugs, tobacco, weapons, dangerous or illegal objects, or anything that would disrupt the community life of the program.
Spending Money: Most days no spending money will be necessary. Assuming the fee has been paid, no money will be necessary the first day unless your child needs a water bottle. If the fee is not paid ahead of time, it is due on the first morning of the program upon arrival. Items from the Mohican Outdoor School Store may be available another day and you will be notified the day before they go on sale.
