Teacher Workshops
Mohican Outdoor School offers teacher workshops which often provide graduate credit or contact hours for professional development. We are facilitators of the following national/international curriculum which correlate with national and state learning standards: Project WILD, Aquatic WILD, Science and Civics; Project Learning Tree, Project Learning Tree Secondary Modules, Leopold Education Project, Flying Wild, Wonders of Wetlands, and Healthy Water, Healthy People. We are also certified to provide training in archery and Square Foot Gardening.

Natural Cache GPS (Global Positioning System) workshop, Saturday, November 19th, 9 am – 3:30 pm. Learn the basics of GPS (Global Positioning System) technology, how to use a GPS receiver, principles of Leave No Trace and Cache In, Trash Out, and ways to apply the use of GPS to all aspects of classroom curriculum. Experience firsthand the excitement of geocaching! GPS units are available for use in this workshop. All participants will receive printed reference materials and a certificate confirming 6 contact hours. This workshop will be offered again on Monday, January 16, 2012. Project Learning Tree Focus on Forests Secondary Module, Thursday, December 15th, 1 – 5:00 pm. Project Learning Tree is providing this secondary module guide free of charge (normally $15). The module is designed for secondary teachers to use in teaching environmental sciences, but the content is applicable to middle school curriculum as well. Activities will focus on monitoring forest growth and health, invasive species, and current issues regarding forest use.
