Facilities & Rentals
Environmental Learning Center Facilities
Dining Room/ Lodge - With its panoramic view and soothing acoustics, the lodge's dining room is nestled in Ohio's unique Black Hand sandstone area overlooking the ancient Groveport River bed. It includes two seating areas with 150 capacity each and a fully equipped commercial kitchen. Warm and inviting radiant heat keeps occupants warm in the winter and geothermal venting keeps them cool in the summer. The ground floor of the lodge has a recreation area, library, and hands-on discovery lab for the students.
Student Dormitories - The living quarters for the students provides both sleeping and restroom facilities under one roof. Each student has a space for storage of personal items. Bunk beds are wood construction with safety rails on top bunks. A radiant floor heating system keeps students cozy even in the coldest of the winter months. Restrooms have private showers and hot and cold water.
Visiting Teachers' Quarters – Red Apple Dorm
This warm and inviting structure contains seven semi-private rooms, each with desk storage and sink. A kitchenette can be used for informal dining and a sitting area for quiet and comfortable evenings. Separate and complete bathrooms have water conservation features. Forced air heat and air conditioning are in each room.
Shelter House - This unique building is an apt point of entry for visitors. Functionally it provides dry shelter for luggage, equipment, and people, as well as a location for fireside cooking, evening campfires with students, and other group activities.
Mohican has benefited from ongoing community support through the years. Our achievements would not have been possible without the cooperation we've received from all the people involved. Creating a site of our own to help give every person an equal opportunity to experience learning in a wide variety of environments is our objective. We offer an extensive field trip program and Summer Day Camp at the Hemlock Falls facility, as well as many year-round events open to the public at the ELC site. In addition, our buildings are available for rental to host your group activities. Our goal is to make people aware of their surroundings and teach them to become valued members of our global community. These ideas may seem far-reaching, but we feel confident that with the help of our friends, we can make this dream a reality for the "Next of the Mohicans".
You are invited to share in the dream . . . call Mohican School for more information (419) 938-6671.
